Hiking Club - Mima Mounds

Just to the Southwest of Olympia is a rare prairie landscape. The Mima Mounds is maintained by the Dept. of Resources. Uniformly spaced, 6ft tall mounds of earth rippled across acres and acres of land is rather unusual and even more strange is that there is no firm determination of why they are there or what caused them. There is a short interpretive trail at the perserve and a small interpretative building that expound on possible theories.

Looks like it was lots of fun! Who knew that was around here. open space is a premium in western Washington! Fun!
