Keys Please?

TRUE Story. The challenge to be prompt to church continues. I had a great plan this morning. I focused on the boys first, up, dressed, breakfast, and I was focused. I got the church "quiet bag" packed with toys and treats, I set the alarm for 845AM, told the boys, "when you hear the alarm, it's a race for the door, get your shoes on and get in the car, see if you can beat Mummy." Then I let them play while I raced to get ready.

I applied my lipstick and looked at the timer - still one minute and 27 sec before 845AM!! Hurrah! I got my bags, loaded the car, the alarm went off, the boys raced to the door got their shoes, it was a miracle! I smiled at the thought of L walking into the chapel, only to find his lovely family already sitting neatly in our pew, looking pretty much picture perfect. CRASH, my dreams came tumbling down... So we are all in the car 12 min to spare, it really only takes 4 min to get to church. No keys. Not in my purse, bag, ignition, car floor... tick-tock, tick-tock....kitchen cupboards, bathroom cupboards, hall closet, refrigerator, pockets, dresser drawers...tick-tock, tick-tock."

At 2min to start time I knew the dream was definitely lost. I called L.
-Who for the record drove the Honda last -
"Hi so do you know where the keys are?"
"oh, I have some in my pocket...don't you have the extra set?"
"oh...no..."

So I ended up calling my darling MIL, who came and drove us to church. My 5min late standard flew out the window for today's 20min late. At least today my husband gave a big smile when he saw us, we might not be picture perfect, but at least he loves us anyway.

I have been laughing so hard at your attempts to be on time. In our family it's Ray who has had a hard time being on time - but he does great now! There's hope!

I love your blog.

This cracks me up! This is just the kind of thing that happens to me, and I can totally visualize the whole thing. I feel your pain, and good luck next Sunday!
