Run Salmon Run - Field Trip

A really great experience is to see the salmon returning home to spawn. Here in Seattle we think about salmon all the time and it is amazing to see them in person. I highly recommend:

Issaquah Fish Hatchery
125 W. Sunset Way
Issaquah, WA 98027
Open daily during daylight hours; indoor exhibits are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If you can't make it at least check out the salmon cam
and your family can cheer along - Go Salmon Go!

I agree; salmon are amazing.

A couple weeks ago we went to see the sockeyes spawning up on the Cle Elum River. They were beautiful.

The guy who led our homeschool field trip is one of the dads, who also happens to be a Yakama and works for the Yakama Nation Fisheries. Here's a link to a picture of him tracking the salmon as they return upstream.

Chicklegirl - That is so interesting. Electronic tracking! of course! Can I get that for my children? What a great way to check it out - with an expert!
