It's a hot day, so why not make a mess.
Mix about 1/2 cup water with 2 cups cornstarch. It's a solid and a liquid.
Cover your hand like a glove, it is weird and cool and best of all, it washes off easily at least the starch part (see below).
Cut it in chunks and watch it melt back together.
We had a lot of fun poking and prodding it, molding and melting it. It is so interesting and bizarre and kills a few boredom bugs.
Warning: The recipe I found called for food colouring - but I can't recommend it. We have some long lasting effects...and yes we scrubbed.
That looks SO fun (and kinda messy!) To bad about the food coloring.
ReplyDeleteThat is the funnest stuff. I did that with my kids a few months ago for a science project. It is oddly soothing! Not that I played with it!:)
ReplyDeleteBlue smurf hands are a good thing!
ReplyDeleteI love the perma blue hands!
ReplyDeleteYou amaze me Kristin!!! How creative and diligent about doing all of this fun stuff with your kids. Sheesh, I can't help but feel like a really boring and selfish mother... lol.
ReplyDeleteThis is cool! We made it at Jack's Science Center party. It was messy too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention of Locks of Love. I have wanted to do that but my hair is not nearly long enough, it has to be 10 inches and can't be coloured, which mine is. I was actually growing it for that for months and months but it got to a length and wouldn't get any longer....
oh no. good to know about the food coloring. cornstarch goop is the funnest thing to play with.
