Sign me up for a halo...

The boys have a little framed picture of me and their dad on their dresser. C brings it in to me today.
"Mommy...I'm so glad to have this picture of you and Daddy."

I'm thinking, "how sweet."

He continues, "When I have babies you will be really old, (pause) and you will probably die (pause) before they are kids, you know (pause) and then I can show them this picture and say, this is a picture of your Nana, she lives in Heaven because she died."

I'm thinking, "!!!"

I say, "Do you think so? I guess we'll see. " and he trots off so happy with himself and his little plan and I'm left in the middle of a mid-life crisis, slapped in the face with my mortality and the possibility of not meeting my grandchildren. At least he says I'll be in Heaven...

  1. I just laughed so hard, I had to read it to my mom and dad. They got a kick out of it too! Kids really do say the darndest things :)

  2. What a goof ball! My kids aren't allowed to think I'll die. I keep reminding them that I fully intend to be crazy stalker grandma that never leaves them alone and they keep saying, "my wife might not like that. I might live really far away." I say, "No, you won't. I'm building a garage apartment or a basement apartment (take your pick)so that I can stalk you more easily."

  6. So is this the kind of mid-life crisis that involves tanning beds and a ferrari? Piercings and a motorcycle?

Or maybe just a couple of liters of Diet Coke...

  8. That is so cute. I love how kids grab out feet and yank us back to earth. There is no way to have a big head as mother, you just might loose it to a 5 year old.
You have been a very busy blogger lately. I have not even gotten on my computer for two weeks, so I have missed a lot! Looks like lots of fun.
